A freestyle celebration of life

Utah Olympic ParkOn September 5, 2008, Erica Knell, a rising star in freestyle aerials, was killed in an automobile accident while on her way to training at Utah Olympic Park. Exactly one year later, rather than spend the day mourning their tragic loss, Erica’s family organized the Erica Knell Memorial Jump Day at the park.

The colorful and lively event provided an opportunity for Erica’s family, friends, and fellow athletes to gather, share stories, and most of all, celebrate Erica’s life. Aside from a reflective moment of silence prior to the Flying Ace All Star show, the celebration was upbeat and by all accounts remained true to Erica’s spirit of fun-loving good times. As an added tribute to Erica and her love of freestyle, her sisters and mother enrolled in an intro camp and became featured performers during the All Star show. Thanks to the combined efforts of several UOP departments and individuals the day was filled with good vibes and energy
